Initiative: Enemies, (action stopped here) Stadvas, Odlin, Augustine, Ryxikor, Miriam
Stadvas slowly get up and smiles at Miriam. He is definitively happy to see her but she seems happier to see him.
Odlin realizes that there is little he can do given Xeron current strategic position and wait.
Augustine wings Jeerod’s axe and hit Xeron. The blade cuts quite deeply in the monster flesh. After that, the ranger moves back.
Ryxikor takes Augustine positions and skewer Xeron. The man looks at him before starting drooling red and green bile and falling to the ground, dead.
Silence returns to the room. Miriam heals Stadvas of 1HP to help hi move again. She hugs him hard and holds his hand.
Odlin comes take a look at Xeron, removing the hood. After examining the dead creature, he shakes his head and looks worried. “this is not good. That creature is a Xuan-ti, some snake lover creatures from the underdark. IF this is where they took Jukia, I fear for her sanity.”

Stadvas' face becomes a grimace of pain, because most of his body is still made up of more or less injured flesh, but he clenches his teeth and hugs back. "Thanks a lot." the warrior replies. Once she releases him, he makes his way to the hole, looks down and asks, "Do we go down?"

Augustine retrieves and sheathes his sword, asking "Can we? That hole looks like it was made for smaller people than us. Besides, I think we should wait until we are all solidly in the land of the living."
That was close, guess we got pretty lucky. Is Stadvas going to want to carry the greataxe? It is probably magical (someone who would know IC how to tell if something is magical should try and see), and it does 1d12 anyway.

The elf stands above the dead creature, listening to Odlin as he explains what it is and where it came from. Ryxikor cleans his weapons off and sheaths them. Being the rogue he is, he starts exporing the room, looking for anything that cold be of use, especially now that he has ample storage space, in the haversack. He then searches Xeron and the hobgoblin, checking their armor, weapons, and any trinkets they may have.
He looks at the others as they speak of their next move. "I propose we take al we have found and sell it. If we are to venture into the underdark, we'll need to be better equiped. Plus we need to let the people of this town know what we have found, don't they owe us a reward?"
search xeron: 1d20(11)+7=18 search xeron: 1d20(19)+7=26 search hobgoblin: 1d20(16)+7=23 search hobgoblin: 1d20(13)+7=20 search room: 1d20(14)+7=21 search room: 1d20(20)+7=27 OOC: wow, not a roll of 10 or under. if this is the end of this adventure, we need to sell all of the equipment, split it, and prob buy some things.

Odlin is reluctantly willing to withdraw before pursuing Jukia's captors in to the Underdark
if the adventure is not yet over, we could use up the very last of our healing and go on, replenish our healing wands when we go back to town?

Ryxikor, knowing the importance of properly equipping a party decides to see what goodies he can find on the bodies or Jeerod, Xeron and in the burial room.
On the xuan-ti sorcerer, he finds a wand (magic missile CL 3 rd; 12 charges left), a sdpear (+1), a magical ring (of protection +1), a scribe's kit and a map of the tomb complex.
On the hobgoblin bodies, he finds a masterwork half-plate, masterwork greataxe it is not magical – sorry), 3 throwing axes, 4 pearls (100 gp each which will be used for identifying things) and 47GP.
The room contains nothing except the sarcophagi where skeletal remains or the king's three closest allies lie in disarray among burial linens in their sarcophagi, but the king's remains (in the northeastern sarcophagus) are missing. The sarcophagus in the southeast corner contains a map of the king's ancient realm—the land that died when the Betrayer slew the forgotten king.
It is obvious that no one from the group can go through the hole in their current shape and it will take some time to make it big enough for a medium creature to go through. Whatever leads Xeron minion have with the reduce Jukia is only going to increase.
As the group gets ready to go back to town to prepare itself to go after Jukia (again!), the 4 statues start moving. All four of the statues look at the group. The statue of the king looks up, and a translucent apparition steps forward. He speaks in a strong but somehow distant voice, smiling warmly. "Thank you, my friends. It is good to see that heroism remains in this world. In my time it was prophesied that my rule would end prematurely, but that I would help to aid the world in its most dire struggle. My bones have been stolen and I sensed a creature of pure good and pure evil, as silly as it sound. I am afraid that evil is trying to use my bones to help the evil side of the creature destroy the pure good side."
The king continues "My name is Theron, but that is no matter, for my time is past. The name you need to know is Sertrous. I heard that scoundrel"—the king gestures toward the body of Xeron, "refer to something called Vanguard of Sertrous, and while I do not know who or what the Vanguard of Sertrous is, I know that it is evil. It must not triumph! The villains stole my bones, and the weapons of my wife and my champions! Those arms are very powerful and should not be used in the service of evil. Still, they did not get this...."
King Theron reaches down into a sarcophagus and through its bottom. When his hand emerges, it holds a black longsword that glows with a silvery light. "This weapon, Merthuvial" he says, "once helped me save a kingdom. May it aid you in your heroics and serve as thanks from a forgotten king."
After handing you the sword, the apparition disappears, as do the lifelike images on the other statues. The quiet of stone and death pervades the area the light of the magic blade shining brightly.

Odlin looks with awe at Theron. The magic doesn't phase him but being spoken to by such a historical and noble figure kindle the fires of legacy and tradition within his dwarven genes.
The magic wand may be a means for the wizard to help in combat without holding a cracked tree branch.
good job Achinca! excellent adventure

Stadvas takes another look at the hole, and is as reluctant as his friend to pause their pursuit. He even kneels and touches the rock to see if it could be made larger by pure raw force. His response to the suggestion of leaving, however, is a simple nod, because he understand that's what needs to be done, and the odds would not be in their favour if they would venture down like this, assuming they'd find a way.
I'd prefer to trade Stadvas' current heavy flail and the axe for a masterwork flail, because, without the masterwork modifiers, his feat gives him a +1 on attack bonus. Thanks to the magic of PA, I can turn that into a +2 bonus to damage, which means I get 1d10+2 instead of 1d12. That's better. Plus, Stadvas likes flails.
And since we're going to be in the city, Stadvas needs a new shirt, because his old excuse for one is now a tattered, blood-soaked rag.

Augustine doesn't look happy, but he agrees to head back to the town, since there is no way for them to get down there now. "Let's hurry, sooner we get our business done in town, sooner we can be back here."
Ilya, you could probably get a +1 flail with your share of the loot, considering how much magical and mastercrafted stuff we have gotten. I was just asking if he was going to want the axe for a back up weapon when he needs to do slashing damage, like against a zombie or something else with DR/slashing.

Miriam kneels and bows as the King speaks. When he slowly disappears, she looks at the group "King Theron was known for his pure goodness. He helped ave a kingdom and brought prosperity to his land until the Betrayer salyed him and his wife. However, the people loved the King so much they revolted against the Betrayer and punished him the way we saw it. I am worried that whatever the Vanguard of Sertous is, it is up to nothing good. I know Xuan-ti are evil and I am afraid they will be using the King bones to make a pure concentrated evil monster out of Jukia. We need to save her or stop her. So we need to continue. But we cannot enter the underdark in the shape we are. We need to heal and resplenish our magic and see if we can increase our defense and offense. I am sure the town can send some workers to increase the hole for us to go down. I am also concerned that they might close it after we go down. Let's go back to town friends ...."

The group returns to the town bringing the news of what has occured. Mia is upset that the tomb robbers got so deep but she is glad they are taken care of.
Ian pays the group its due for solving the mystery (300GP per hero).
Gran, the owner of the general store will honor the hero by buying and selling at 90% of the published value of the good.
Banjatha, the town arcanist will buy magical items at 75% but will sell at 100%. She as a good collection of potion, scrolls and a few enchanted items.
Hergon, the town cleric will heal everyone to full health for free but will sell any healing product at full price.
OOC: Hope you enjoyed the adventure as much as I did. The next one will be quite different but hopefully as much fun. OOC2: LEt's handle all the commercial activities OOC to speed up the down time. OOC3: I will need someone to update the loot sheet and let me know how much gold Miriam gets. OOC4: If you are not sure about an item, just let me know which fight or room you got it from. OOC5: Once everything is ready, the Sinister Spire awaits .....

As the group leaves, Ryx does what he's been wanting to do, he takes the torch they are using and lights the webs in the web-filled room ablaze. He is not dumb enough to stand where spiders may jump him or he may be caught by flames or webbing. He lights only a few spots, trying to do a 'controlled' blaze so he doesn't burn everything, then maybe he can see what there was. If any others were caught or if anything of use can be found or salvafed. Always a rogue.

Ryxikor burns out the web but cannot find any adidtional treasure than what they found before (I am way too nice of a DM). Howevr, after the webbing is burned from the statue, the group see what appears to be the statue of a king on a throne. However, the stone hands and feet are actually shackled to the throne. This is a statue of the Betrayer. That was a false tomb designed to confuse wouldbe robbers.

Augustine peers in any doors that they didn't take as they pass, in case they missed something. He also makes sure that they don't leave the armor and weapons from the Varags that they hid in the serpent's room.

Augustine looks around but does not find an stone unturned.
The group is now resting at the inn, making its preparation to go down the hole and into a tunnel. The worked have enlarged the hole which opens to a restricted, steeply sloping tunnel that is maybe 5 feet wide and 7 feet tall.
Tracks of 3 small creatures doing down into the earth were seen. A ranger identified that one of the track showed that someone what being brought down against their will.
OOC: Barrow of a Forgotten King is now officially over. When I get the ready from you, I will start Part II: The Sinister Spire.
