With a as powerful a movement as possible of both his arms, Stadvas raises the flail's spiked ball and brings it down again. The warrior assumes the worg's words, which he couldn't understand, were a taunt, and pays no attention to them.

Something about the creature stirs a faint memory from hours spent learning arcane tomes in musty libraries. The wizard strains to learn useful information to help his allies.
As he does so, he swings his club again

Desperate to reach his friends and help fight off the worg, Ryx thinks of the beast's words. Not knowing if the beast knows there is an elf in the group who despises goblins, Ryxikor lets the creature know, "Wizard? Why would you want to know you mangy mut?" The elf asks as he moves in to the only open spot and cut off any escape, he then thrusts forward, looking for a vital spot to end this quickly.

Initiative: Worg, Odlin, Stadvas, Augustine and Ryxikor
The worg, happy to have tasted the flesh from Augustine, keeps biting at the ranger’s body. The monster digs its sharp teeth deep into poor Augustine body.
Odlin swings his club again at the worg but the wizard as lost some concentration as he is reminiscing from his prior day as a scholar and fails to hurt the monster.
Stadvas attacks the worg but in a very uncharacteristic way for the efficient warrior, fails to hurt the monster.
Augustine, aware of his nasty injuries, take a 5 step back and activate the wand of cure light wound who was originally used by Jukia. He remembers her sweet face and voice when she taught him the goblin word to activate. The positive thoughts of Jukia is a lucky charm that nearly heals all of his wound.
Ryxikor, understanding the worg message tauntws him. He positions himself in a perfect position to strike. The hit with the rapier is true and pierce the heart of the beast. The worg turns his face and looks at Ryxikor prior to falling on the ground, dead.
Mia reappears with a couple of militia members who go the dwarf bodies and pick it up. She looks at the dead wolves and worg. “Good job eliminating this vermin! But I have the strong belief that these monsters were scavengers, not the actual killers of my men. Weapons were responsible for their death.”
She pauses and faces the adventurers “I am also worried about the Yurlings, who have not returned. It is a family of 3, the mom, dad and daughter bringing the grand-pa body to be buried.”
She gives a pair of keys to the group. “These are the keys to the gate of the graveyard and the mausoleum. We will lock the graveyard gate after we leave to ensure no one else enter this place until you figure out what kind of evil has fallen in our town. We will wait for news from you. Please remember that the mausoleum is a sacred burial place and very important to our village. May the statue of the forgotten king brings you luck.”
She salutes in military style and closes the main gates as she leaves.
The 4 adventurers are now alone in the graveyard, facing the open mausoleum where the blood trail is leading.
Augustine: -5HP damages + 9hP (CLW Wound) – currently at 14/15
OOC: Wand has 10 charges left OOC2: Really good and smart play on this appetizer fight. I will post XP on the XP thread soon.

Augustine sheathes his sword, retrieves his bow, and checks to make sure everything is in order with it, considering his unusually poor accuracy. Looking up, he asks "Should we go in to the mausoleum or look around the graveyard for the Yurlings?"

The Dwarven wizard takes the keys. "Do not worry, we will do everything within out power can to find both the murderers of these people and the family that hasn't returned.", he says, and adds on the subject of the statue, "And may it bring you strength in your grief."
"They were on this side of the blood trail, and dead, so they were probably fleeing from there. If something held them, it might have the family. We should go in." Stadvas suggests when the ranger asks about their route.
OOC: As agreed, I'll RP Odlin while Achilles is away. How did I do copying his manner of speech?

After inspecting the tracks to make sure there is no where else the yurlings could have gone, Ryxikor stands in front of the mausoleum. He lights a torch and slowly, cautiously leads the others into the dark place.

Ryxikor inspects the tracks and realizes quickly that there are no recent traces going anywhere but toward the mausoleum. However, given the recent fight, it is quite hard for the elf to be 100% sure.
The group follows the trail of blood that leads them into the mausoleum. From the entrance they see that the blood trail continues through the room and back to a closed door on the north wall.
Ryxikor decides to inspect the mausoleum a little more carefully and notices that the bodies were dragged out of the mausoleum by the wolves. It confirms that they were already dead when the wolves and the worg found them. The smell of blood is probably what gave the monster and its animal follower the idea to claim territory in the graveyard.
Ryxikor, helped by Augustine inspects the blood trail more carefully and conclude that the sentinels (Mia’s men) fought a battle in the mausoleum. They didn't fight wolves, but instead engaged assailants armed with bows and bludgeoning weapons.
Finally, as the entire group is playing detective, they finally find a medium size humanoid partial footprint near the northern door.
Inside the mausoleum, three rows of three vaults line the east and west walls, each vault door neatly engraved with a name.
The northern door is close but does not seem locked as a key still rests in the lock, a ring of eleven more keys dangling from it.

Looing at the vault doors, Ryxikor tells the others, "I'm sure those are the deceased family members. Should probably leave them alone." More curious about the door in the northern wall, the elf moves over to it. He presses his ear firmly to the door to see if anything can be heard on the other side. If he hears nothing, with rapier and torch in hand Ryxikor slowly opens the door a bit to peek in.

Ryxikor makes the right choice not to open the vault and act like tomb robbers. He listens to the door and only hears silence. He sees that the door is not locked although the key is in the keyhole.
He slowly opens the door and see a narrow staircase that descends to a wide landing below. He can tell the landing leads to a wider room that is lit by wavering firelight.
The landing is likely to be the area where prominent villagers prepare the bodies of their dead loved ones before interring them in the mausoleum.

After telling the others of the landing and the firelight, the elven rogue volunteers to use his inherent and practiced gifts of stealth to find out what he can about the lower level. He hands the torch to Augustine, using his better vision to guide him down the stairwell. He stays up against the wall and moves very slowly, sure not to kick any rocks or pebbles or lose his footing. He only goes down far enough til he can see what is going on on the next floor.

Odlin is too slow to stop the fleetfooted elf from his solo mission. He watches the rogue depart hoping to see him again soon before turning back to his comrades.
"Well if humanoids slew these soldiers then perhaps it is the same despicable quarrries that we are hunting and Jukia is now within our grasp. We shall see if our wanderlust elven friend can stay still long enough to discuss strategy when he returns."
Taking the counsel of his remaining allies, the wizard asks their opinions. "If there is a lair below, then it is among the dead and i can only suppose that the cretins we track are seeking some goal or prize. Maybe they won't be looking behind them and we can bring their doom upon their heads!
Stadvas. shall you lead with flail and mail? Ryx's eyes and stealth would be well placed behind. Then i shall follow with a burning sunrod. Augustine, if you come last, at least your bow will reach the fray. Does that suit our purpose?"
The wizard sits idley and nuzzles the nape of Cheese affectionately, wondering if Jukia's hair would be as soft.

As Ryxikor goes down to check the lower mausoleum, Odlin organizes the group. With is leather poncho and the head of a black dragon as a mask, the wizard is slowly but surely becoming quite an impressive looking leader. Ryxikor goes down the stairs and arrives on the landing. He sees that lit torches illuminate this chamber. From the landing he now stands upon, a shallow staircase leads down into a room obviously designed to allow corpses to be prepared for burial. At the bottom of that staircase is the corpse of a human woman, crumpled and broken. The statue of some winged celestial being overlooks the scene from its pedestal east of the stairs. Several tables stand against the east and west walls, and all but two of the seven have corpses on them. Farther into the chamber is a long pile of crushed stone where somebody or something toppled and crushed two of the tables. Aside from the one table that is beyond that debris, the farthest features you can see are vault doors along the north wall, a couple of which hang open, exposing the rudely tousled bones within. Ryxikor notices that the bodies at the bottom of the stairs as well as the first table on the left and the second table on the right look very fresh. The bodies on the table are male (one middle age, one older) and the corpse on the ground is female (look middle age).

Once the elf gets near the landing, he pays a little too much attention to whats in the room and not his footing, he misses a step and almost twists his ankle. Recovering quickly and thankful the room seems to be empty, Ryxikor hustles back up the stairs to tell the others his findings.
As the group descends down the stairs, Ryx lets one of the humans carry the torch since he doesn't need it as much. Once in the room, Ryx slowly moves to the opposite side, crouching low using the tables as cover, to see if the rest of the room is occupied or not.
DM EDIT: Puff, I need Ryxikor map location. What route is he taking? Thanks
edit: 15ft into the room to G4, 5 ft east to G5, after checking on the body to make sure she is in fact dead, 10 ft north in the E6 sqaure, up against the table, peeking around to see if he can see the rest of the room, he won't go in the gravel.

Odlin prepares himself to decend in to the depths once his elven scout ally returns. He fondly remembers his childhood home. The dwarven stronghold deep beneath the earth with it's towering steel plated doors and high marble promenades. There are similarities to his present situation... in that the they both have become the resting places for the dead and almost forgotten.
The heat in his veins keeps him warm as he waits. Zlak can wait, Odlin wants to take his time. His attention shifts to the two dwarven children playing across the chamber. The older sibling pushes his feebler and paler brother to the ground playfully causing the younger child to drop his scrolls and books.
