After the group clambers over the line of boulders, the wolf is nowhere to be found, as if it had never been there in the first place. The woods are once again permeated by peace and tranquility. Save the heavily armed adventurers, nothing hostile stirs in the forest.
My humblest apologies, I missed your post and was awaiting for it.

ALyana looks around trying to spot the wolf (1d20 + 6 = 17). She does not see it and starts climbing down.
"Let's be on our guard and ready for any attack. Let's be in single lane to avoid becoming a group target. I'll close the march"
Her mace is ready to strike and her shield is raised.

Theodorre carefully moves over to the bush where he saw the wolf and searches for the carcass or blood from it. He then lets taliea, if she wants to, to come over and look for tracks, while Theo the investigator searches the ground also.
If nothing is found the wizard follows suit and continues on looking for the apprentice, while he pulls weeds and twigs off his clothes and out of ihs hair.

Barrend sticks with the group, guisarme at the ready, and keeps his ears open, hoping to hear it if it approaches them again. When they reach the spot the wolf was in, he uses his tracking expertise to attempt to find where it might have gone.

After Theo shows where he saw the animal, and discovers a mostly-eaten corpse of what appears to have been a young deer there, Barrend kneels down and tries to make out where its footprints lead. At first, this is easy: part of the wolf's fur was covered in blood, and there is a clear crimson trail to follow. However, soon, it appears all the blood had been rubbed off, because after having walked off, directly away from the heroes, the animal seems to have disappeared, at least according to Barrendd's findings.

Alyana listens to the dwarf finding with perplexity. "Disappear you say? Never heard of a disappearing wolf. Anyway, our mission is to find the apprentice, not the wolf. Do we have evidence of his track or his chickens?"

Taliea also takes a look at the area, hoping to have more luck than Barenna, (not that she doubts his abilities, but a second look couldn't hurt). After Alyana's suggestion the Ranger also looks for any signs of the apprentice and his chickens.

Or if I can take 20, I'll do that instead?

The black-haired half-elf discovers that, apparently, the wolf has fled the scene entirely. The trail of the apprentice, however, becomes harder to follow, as if he has taken special care not to be seen from this point, and Taliea's searching does not reveal any tracks.
Since trying a Survival check to track again takes one hour, I'd say taking 20 represents about 4-5 hours of work, and one check applies to one mile, I'm sorry. Are you still taking 20? You might want to consider using Aid Another instead of making separate checks.

Taliea thinks for a moment. "It seems the wolf has disappeared entirely..." she knows it sounds impossible. "It also seems the apprentice's tracks have disappeared," she goes on slowly..."Either he didn't want to be followed or there's something strange going on in this area. Magic of some sort?" She looks to the Wizard for confirmation.

As Theodorre walks behind the others, he thinks about what the ranger said, taking one of his wands out, he quietly utters a command word activating the magical twig. He concentrates on the area to see if any magics are around.

Alyana is on her guards, suddenly not liking the turn of events. What started as a fool errand is now looking much more dangerous.
She tries to see if she sees anything out of the ordinary.

Theodorre's magic twig envelops the surrounding area in a nearly tangible field, which augments his senses, putting them in tune with the magic around him... sadly, there does not seem to be any magic present in the spell effect's cone. That is, while he's surveying the area in front of the group. The moment he turns around and looks back, something in him tells his magics have struck home: there's a magical aura here, and he soon realises it is a strong aura. As he focuses longer, the spell's effect seems to draw an aura into visibility -only to the wizard- surrounding the rocks behind him. There is a strong magic at work here, permeating the rock itself. Between the layers of magic interwoven into the stone's material, one effect seems to be the strongest, and Theodorre determines it to be an effect from the Enchantment school.
The Cleric's keep eyes discover no danger, and the dazzling pallet of magical effects revealed to Theodorre's are hidden from her, as well. Her careful examination, however, does show a few chicken feathers, and one carelessly clear footprint. The apprentice has clearly been here.
She-Elf, I'll take your silence on the matter as a 'no'.

Suddenly Theo speaks up, "Yes, magic my dear ranger, here among the rocks, interwoven with them it seems." he says as he examies the boulders more closely.
