Alyana believes she hears Kurt asking for help and tries to insist on going down to help her injured friend. However, she is hysterical and distressed and Taliea slowly but surely moves her away from the edge. She sits in silence in the cart, crying and crying even more. She holds Taliea's hand tight, as her anchor to reality. Once again, her fragile mental state is in danger.
She does not move when the group arrives to the tower.

Kerzeme guides the animals, his face turned forward and because of that away from the others. After a few minutes, he forgets why he is smirking, and even his mood worsens. After all, Kurt could have been useful. But he has little time to think about such things, making the animals move in the right directions requires nearly all of his mental resources.
When they arrive, Kerzeme stops, twirling one end of his mustache and thoughtfully states the obvious, "Looks like he's home." before shouting as loud as he can, "Hey! Are you here? We've got a shipment for ya and you better pay us well for it!"
Disclaimer: Kerzeme's behaviour does not in any way reflect my opinion. I'm very sorry about Kurt's demise, I'm always sorry when a character dies. Well, except maybe this guy... He's asking for it.

Barrend is more angry than anything else. Should have told me it needed more to break it, I coulda hit it from far enough away. He also tries to comfort Alyana, with all of his Dwarven berserker sensitivity. "Soon as this is done, we'll go back there. Theo wiggles his fingers and makes me fly, I'll fly down there and get his body, we make it look like someone stole Kerzeme's valuables, you offer it as a tribute, and bring Kurt back as good as new."
Coming up on the tower, Barrend notices the traces of the Golem's passing. Unless we die first, he thinks.

As the group leaves the descimated bridge, Theodorre rides the sled with Kerzeme, trying to help guide the dogs with the sorceror. Turning to the human, "Ya know, heroism like that is what the bards sing about across the lands." Suddenly, the wizard sanps his fingers with an, "Ah ha, I got it." he suddenly looks more cheerful thatn he has since they arrived in this cold wasteland, "Since we don't have a bard traveling with us...hmm wouldn't that be grand. He could sing and play for us at anyti...ooops sorry. As I was saying, I've traveled with a few minstrels, I think i shall compose a tribute to the brave Kurt K'bane."After a few quiet moments, Theo starts singing, or trying to, "Oh Kurt, Oh Kurt, where did you go? Why did you leave us so?" he stops quickly, shaking his head, "No, no, that won't work. Let's see. 'There once was a man.. uh..um orc. There once was a half-orc named Kurt, if you laughed at him you would get hurt!' Haha hahah haha!" His laughter dying down, Theo sends a sideways glance towards Alyana, hoping she didn't think the wizard was making fun of the rogue. "'He had courage, he had grace, such big tusks he had on his face'....ya know, this is tougher than I thought it would be" he says turning back to Kerzeme, "Do you wanna help? Have any ideas?"
singing: 1d20=8 hmmm

With enough hullabaloo a solitary figure opens the thick wooden door to the tower. A sturdy 5ft tall humanois with heavy features and thick clothing peers out.
The henchman looks tired but shows the new arrivals in to the tower, leaving them in a large antechamber adorned with fur rugs and curtains. A series of smokeless lanterns are activated to light the interior.
Odd engineering paraphernalia lie scattered around the room on small tables and bookshelves. The tower sounds quiet and still, an eerie calm in the wilderness. The interior of the tower is warm and comforting.
It is most of an hour before the henchman returns and announces that 'the master is coming'.
A gnome enters dressed in a leather jacket trimmed with fur with eerie sigils that seem to shimmer and glisten in the magical lighting. He has a blood stained bandage covering part of his face and he leans heavily upon his crystal tipped ivory staff.
"I am Lorran and you are my delivery men. A tad tardy i might say," wheezes the little man.

"It was no easy trek, I'm sure you understand", Taliea replies, keeping her tone as amicable as possible. "But indeed, we have your delivery"

"well there might be hope after all," muses the gnome as he crossed towards some furniture.
He is a young looking man that seems to have been involved in a tragic accident. He sways a little when he stands and when the gnome seats himself in a leather wing-backed armchair, there is visible relief across his features
"if you show Eiggor here where the goods are he will take care of things."
Lorran's head slumps backwards and he passes out probably from exhaustion. A few seconds later he blinks himself awake and peers blearily at his visitors.

"I think we're going to have to charge a bit extra, it's a 'people died in the process of delivering this' fee." Kerzeme tells the gnome, looking down on him. "Try to get 'he jumped off a rock, an...' Hmmm. Nah, that wouldn't rhyme, never mind."

Lorran dismisses the suggestion with an idle wave of his limp arm. "I'll ask Palorius to invoice me."
A moment later the gnome realises his crassness. "Sorry for your lost but I have my own problems at the moment. Do you need food or shelter? You must have come far and I cannot send you out in the waste like this."
The wizard coughs in to a silk hankerchief, spattering it with vermillion flecks.

Theo slowly walks around the antechamber, hands clasped behind his back as he inspects the gadgets around the room. He seems to be humming as he cranes his neck this way and that in order to read the titles of the books on the shelves. If the others were to listen carefully they might barely hear the wizard mumbling, "....and he jumped to his doom, to save his friends...." still working on his tribute to Kurt.
Once the meeting has started and the mention of being late, "Hmmph, late? We ran most of the way! Being chased is more like it!" he says, talking mainly to himself or whoever will listen.

Alyana stands there saying nothing, still mourning Kurt. She does not care about anything. She just want to lay in a bed and cry herself to sleep.

Lorran has nothing to respond to so he sits where he is, resting

"Food and a bed? Yeah, sounds good." Kerzeme accepts. "So, about the shipment we just brought. What did we just give you?"

Lorran stirs slighty. "The good you've transported? You wouldn't understand the finer details."
The gnome sighs. "well they are ingredients to a magical ritual that have sadly arrived too late... probably. but don't fret as i'll still send your payment to Palorius."
The henchman comes to his master's side with a silver tray upon which rests a tall glass with a green creamy elixir. "Teacher. You should rest. Let me deal with our guests."

Alyana seems to be surpringly nodding for a few seconds when suddenly she reopens her eyes. The kind, caring look is all gone from her eyes. Anger and violence are now burning in her eyes. The Silver Raven has sadly returned. The elf woman harshily asks the gnome " WE ASKED YOU A QUESTION. What kind of magic is in these crates? We lost a beloved friend to get it for you and I do expect an answer."Brushing aside the servant, she shows her silver holy symbol of Corellon Larethian. " I can provide you healing, but also pain. So tell us, what is in there. There are arcanists among us that can truely understand what you will say. " She then looks at the servant. " Do as your master said. Bring us warm food and good drink"
DM edit; all please read maybe my grammar is misleading. Lorran DID ANSWER your question. he explained that the stuff in the crates are magical ingredients for a ritual he is working on. he is correct in implying that unless you have a high bonus in knowledge arcana, you would be unable to fathom how the ingredients work. in game terms, they are just fancy spell components, so what they actually do is neither here nor there unless you feel you could complete the ritual for Lorran. you might have more success asking him why it is "too late" (the NPCs are usually dropping hints about the adventure and players get more XP for picking up on these clues)
