Augustine, worried about running out of time to help Miriam, but not to the point of breaking off his attack, continues to empty his quiver into the spider.
attacks: 1d20+6=17, 1d20+6=15damage: 1d6+2 Anyone got ranks in heal? we will probably want to try stabilizing her without magic healing. I guess it is DM's call about the 5 foot step. I've done it around corners before, not sure if around a monster would be different.

Initiative: Odlin, Stadvas, Augustine, Ryxikor, Miriam, Monsters Round 11 Starts Odlin continues to slowly move into a position where he can help flank the monstrosity there are facing. He continues to try to help Stadvas but fails. Stadvas continues his relentless attack on the monster and his magically enhanced flail hits the head of the spider for a lot of damages. The spider looks hurt but still alive and looks quite angry. Augustine is unleashes another volley of arrows by both fly high ends t heir run in the web covered walls. Ryxikor makes a small move to his right and easily pierce the spider with his rapier. However, it does not look like the rapier is doing any damages to the spider. Miriam is lying on the ground and continues bleeding. More blood has started to come out of her nose. The large spider attack Stadvas again but this time the fighter is ready and block the nasty fangs. May be the tide is turning and Miriam can be saved after all. Round 11 Ends Miriam: – 1HP damages – currently at -4/30, unconscious and bleeding[ht] OOC: Puff, the only move that does not generate an AoO is going to F8. Going to F9 would generate an AoO. If y ou move Ryxikor 5 steps away and make a double move to go around the spider, you go under the balcony and get caught in the web. So I kept him there to away putting Ryxikor in a tougher situation. Hope it is okay.

Stadvas continued swinging his flail at the monster. He throws a quick, worried look over his shoulder at Miriam, but tries to stay focused on the task at hand, which is killing the thing that's endangering her.
Poison sa- Oh, sorry, habit... Attack roll: 1d20+6=11+6=17 Damage: still 1d10+6 AC 17 HP 7/29 I don't think anyone has any ranks in Heal, if Augustine doesn't. I checked the skills on the sheets.

Augustine begins to walk forward very slowly as he continues to attack the spider, and another of his shots sinks into the spider's flesh.
5-foot step to C5, rapid shot. attacks: 1d20+6=7, 1d20+6=22damage: 1d6+2 Augustine has no ranks in heal, but he does have at least a +1 bonus to wisdom, possibly +2 (can't remember if it is 13 or 14). He ought to get a good enough roll in a few rounds with as many aid anothers as Achinca allows.

Ryx, again, takes a five foot step to his right, trying to flank the monstrous spider. Realizing his weapons are doing no damage, the elf starts going into more of a defensive mode, hoping Stadvas and Augustine can finish off the arachnid.
HP: 20 AC: 20 (17+3 fighting defensively) free action: five foot step full round action: both attacks rapier: 1d20(4)+7+2(flanking)=13 short sword: 1d20(4)+5+2(flanking)=11 crap, a 4 both times ?

Odlin continues his attempts to help Stadvas
S: aid another to grant stad a +2 AC bonus = success! OOC: Puff, the only move that does not generate an AoO is going to F8. Going to F9 would generate an AoO. according to the standard 3.5 rules, my suggestion of moving to F9 would NOT generate an AoO because monsters dont have 'hard corners' and there are no 7.5ft steps! but as always I bow to the DM's own judgement and will abide by any house rules.

Initiative: Odlin, Stadvas, Augustine, Ryxikor, Miriam, Monsters
Round 12 Starts
Odlin finally succeeds in distraction the spider, helping Stadvas land a blow that would have other wise missed. The spider looks quite damaged.
Augustine unleashes another set of arrows and does what is does best, which is hitting half of the time. The first arrow misses but the second enters the skull of the spider on one side and comes out of the other side. The spider stops moving and falls to the ground, immobile.
Ryxikor, for good measures attack the dead spider and but still finds it hard to hit.
Miriam is still lying on the ground and continues bleeding. A pearl of blood has appeared in her ear.
Round 12 Ends
Miriam: – 1HP damages – currently at -5/30, unconscious and bleeding
[ht]
OOC: I keep you guys in combat mode not because there is more enemies but because you need to do something about Miriam or you will lose her.
OOC2: Yes, house rules I guess. Not sure why monsters would not have hard corner. Also, I do not apply the WOTC rule that diagonal are worth 10 feet movement.
OOC3: XP will come afte resolution of Miriam's fate

Stadvas kneels down next to his fallen ally and sees what he can do about at least stopping the bleeding. He seems to be quite succesful.
There are two people with a +1 Wis modifier here, one of them Stadvas. Let's see how I roll. Aid Anothers are appreciated and probably necessa- this looks good.
1d20+1=20+1=21 Yahoo! The dice love me!

"Does anyone have a healing potion!" the dwarf cried frantically. He cradles Miriam's head gently and wipes her clammy brow. He pale face a death mask in this underground mausoleum.
The wizard sobs gently for a few seconds before realising he carries a spare for such emergencies "Wait!"
He pulls forth his pack and brings forth the saving draught. Slowly he trickles the medicine down the cleric's throat
full round to adminster CLW potion to Miriam that's my last one!
DM Edit: Does Odlin pour down the CLW immediately or does he waits to see if someone ca nstabilize her?

Augustine rushes over to Miriam when the spider drops, and starts to attempt to stop the bleeding, but sees that Stadvas has it under control. "Now what? She got worse when she healed herself, do we try it again, or should we wait for the poison to run its course?"
Since the spider's venom appears to have something going on that allowed her to lose 5HP on a heal. I would guess that it was pretty much reversing the effects, since 5HP falls right in the middle of what a cure light wounds does, but that is a strange poison. All Augustine knows is that she used the wand and fell over dying, but he is still suspicious.
Also, don't waste the healing potion if we do use healing on her, I should be able to use the wand, fourth level ranger.

Odlin holds his hand at the ranger's words. " Poisoned?! What foul magic would corrupt this holy vessel so?" The wizard looks to see if he can treat the poison
Aid Another to use Heal check to treat poison = FAIL (PHB76) Ahh, good point. the potion might kill her off!

Odlin makes sure that his comrades know that he isn't going to use the healing potion until they figure out what is happening

Odlin grabs the dying Miriam and is about to pour a CLW potion down her throat when Augustine rushes to stop him. He remembers the effect that the CLW wand did on the poisoned Miriam. While the men hesitate Stadvas approaches the woman and bandaged her the best he can. He was never trained in the art of healing but has been cut so many times in battle that he remembers a trick or two. Luck is on is side as he stabilises the sying woman.
The group stay there, wondering what to do next when two things occurs:
1) Miriam faces which had turn very palish and yellow returns to her normal color. 2) Odlin and Augustine finally put 2 and 2 together: Negative energy! The poison was similar to negative energy and does the opposite of a healing spell. A CLW acts like an inflict like wounds. An every thing make sense: The spider was a tomb spider, the moving corpse a web munny and the swarm a tomb spider swarm.
The door opens and the waterfall fey appears: "You have finally defeated that monstruosity and its babies. I have been battling it for a long time but could never defeat it. Job well done. Although a lot of you do not know it, but you are good people. You know the difference between good and bad."
He looks at the downed Miriam. "IS the good cleric still alive? Then bring her to my waterfall. I can use the power of nature to heal her. I can also heal anyone else that needs it. It will be my way to say thank you."
OOC: Odlin nearly killed Miriam. The CLW positon would have likely finished her. Augustine saved her life. Glad to see the ranger has a brain. I recommend using tomb spider and the breed in your game. The posioning which negate the healing is a great challenge for players. It is in MM4. I loved that monster. XP will follow soon. Good job guys. This was a close fight. I really thougth that I will have to bury Miriam.

Odlin helps carry the fallen cleric to the fey's waterfall.
He watches her hurt wash away in the purifying waters before indulging himself. Let the cool draughts cleanse him of his hurt.
However that old stain on his heart remains. The wizard wishes Jukia could hold on for just a little longer
yeah, well done noda! being away on that trip has rest my RPG acumen! but good combat Achinca, looking forward to the rest!

"We better hurry." Stadvas reminds the others while he helps carry Miriam to the waterfall. Like Odlin, he is worried about Jukia's fate.
I'll definitely remember it, thank you.
