Odlin winces with the pain. He scorns himself for his recklessness but a part of himself deep within accepts the hurt as a badge of honour, a medal for joining his comrades in a perilous venture.
The dwarf takes a moment to search the treasure thoroughly.
Solemnly he suggests, "let's take these letters, they'll give us more information but later. I'll need time but I'm sure I can work out what they say.
Do we press on or retreat, figure out what's going on then come back? I'm happy to carry on if everyone had any pressing urges of curiosity but the risks may be greater than we can handle"

"I would say that it is time to stop pushing our luck. We are injured, out of healing aside from a wand with unknown charges left, and we have some letters that could help us to get to the bottom of this. Lets go back to town, heal up and lay low for a while."

While looking around, Stadvas thinks. "I always prefer 'pushing my luck' until there's nothing to win any more, but since all of you want to leave, I suppose we're heading back." A grin spreads across the right half of his face, and he turns to Jukia. "I didn't pay attention, but is there a place I can place some bets back there?"

Odlin agres to the party's wishes "Let's go but be careful."
The group stop to grab the hidden armour and arms from the fallen goblins, the wizard mentally counting the amount of gold they might get and the pitchers of ale he could buy.

The group leaves the shaman's room and knwoing the trap, help Odlin make it out without having more injuries. They leave the goblin lair unnoticed, grabbing 6 armors, morningstar and shields from the goblins they killed.
Jukia smiles innocently at Stadvas "I am not much of a glamber, except in love, but I know that there is always people ready to play at the Barrow's Edge Inn. Mallie is not too crazy about it but as long as the wagers are small, she looks the other way. Andlately, she has been so buzy with the goblins situation that she has probably forgotten about it."
They arrive to Barrow's Edge by nightfall and although the villagers are pleased to see the 3 male adventurers, they do not seem to happy to see that Jukia has returned.
Mallie and Arvel, speaking for the constituency, address the group "So what have you found? Have you solved our problem?"

Stadvas' good mood, awakened by the mention that there will be wagers to make, is only slightly spoiled by the fact these wagers will be small. He is the first to reply, and his reply is, "If we find a translator, a dictionary or both from Goblin to any language we can understand, we'll tell you." Then, he looks at the other adventurers, mainly Jukia and his dwarf companion, as they doubtlessly know more Goblin that he does.

Arvel, the old wise dwarf moves forwards "I am fully fluent in goblin. Show me these parchments and I will tell you what they say."
He turns around and enters the Inn. Mallie invites the adventurers but stops Jukia from entering. "You are not welcome here anymore. Not after last night!"
Jukia in a feeble voice says "but it is all lies ....."
Mallie simply replies "yeah right!"

"She did save my life..." Stadvas states, as if thinking what to do out loud. "Which means I owe her more than I owe you..." The tone he said this in was thoughtful and a bit absent, and his carefully controlled face didn't show any anger or, for that matter, other emotion. Half suggesting, half thinking out loud, he adds, "Maybe we shouldn't give anything yet..." Suddenly, his voice snaps back to a normal tone and his face makes the exact same movement, turning to Jukia, "What are the lies, by the way?"

Before Jukia can reply to Stadvas, Mallie intervenes "Adventurer, what is your opinion of Jukia in term of reputation? From what you have gathered, what do you think Jukia does on her free time? What do you think her role is? Do you know who she is? Has she told you her story?"
The tone of her voice is not mean and does not show anger. It is a motherly tone, as someone about to break a tough true to a naive child.

The situation seems to amuse Stadvas as he replies, perhaps a bit childishly with a playful glint in his eye, "Citizen, what reputation can she have that is so bad it could, to me weigh up against her saving my life, and yet not have landed her in prison yet?" Not only has he copied the way Mallie talks to him, he has also copied the motherly tone with which he is adressed. Stadvas' eyes focus on Mallie's face.

(in dwarven) "Thank you wise-one. Your translation of the scrolls would be a boon."
Odlin makes sure to hold on to the scrolls afterwards though. At least that saves me casting a spell in the morning
The wizard is nervous around the confrontation between Maillie and Jukia. Not wanting to dive in to this contest of wills, he absently takes a step beside Jukia. The bonds of an adventuring party run deep, deep as the dungeons thorugh the earth, deep as the bonds forged of blood and bravery.
Expectantly, he waits to hear the revelations about their new comrade

Mallie smiles an even more motherly smile and she definitively looks like a good-hearted matron. "Well, Julia's mother came to the village about 19 or 20 years ago, pregnant and husbandless. The Barrow was still pretty rough and it was mainly male population so they asked Zlak, our resident priest to help her. Jukia was soon born after that and it became clear that her mother could not provide with helself as she had no domestic skills. So the only way she could make her living was by using what is between her legs and being a frontier town, she had quite a few customers giving the low amount of women at that time. She was in other words, the local sleeper. Time passed by and the hammlet grew and more families came and having an older sleeper was attracting some people we did not want in town. In addition, Jukia was about 13 so we were worried she would follow her mother footsteps. Thus we asked her to leave and leave Jukia in the care of Zlak. Zlak taught her of the divine and behold of everything, she had some skills. We thought we were saved. But you could take her away from her mother but you cannot take her mother out of her. Around her 16 birthday, she got find in the temple with no less than five boys, doing things that I would have never dreamed or heard off." At that point Jukia intervenes "But I told you they put a spell on me and I could only say yes. I did not want to do what I did. Not my first time" Mallie ignores the comment and continues "We disciplined the boys and we told Jukia that if she was ever caught again, she will be asked to leave the hammlet. She was well behaved for two years but later she was found with two married men, once again doing things which are not what you would expect a young woman to do with married older men." Jukia cuts again "I told you that they brought some ale and I never had before. I tasted it and it was good and i drank more and I do not remember anything." Mallie rolls her eyes and continues "The two poor souls nearly lost their wives and families. We told Jukia that if she was ever caught again with a married or promised man, she would be banned. Last night, she was in the hay with Marcus, who is destined to be married once the goblin situation is solved. Marcus confessed to his pride to be and apologize for all the perverted things he did with Jukia. Thus she is banned!" Jukia nearly explodes "I did not do anything with Marcus. He asked me to come to his barn to check on a cow that looked sick. Then he told me he needed to talk to me, about his doubts about marrying his fiancee, his desire to go adventuring. Yes we laid in the hay but we did not do anything. We did not touch each other. Yes I always had a big crush on him but I was told he was destined to better than the local tramp who happens to be the daughter of a sleeper."!" At this point she starts crying and starts moving away from the village !""It does not matter. You will never believe me!" Mallie face is full of sadness but the look in her eyes is of someone who does not enjoy what she is doing but know that she must do it.

"I see..." Stadvas nods with his eyebrows raised after having listened to the story. He speaks again, slowly, choosing his words. "All of that is, of course, not pretty, but we've still got the dilemma. We can't just leave her standing out here, that would be murder. So, now I ask, do you have any propositions that aren't as lethal for her as leaving her here, alone?"

Mallie looks really upset and sad but replies "She knew the consequneces of her actions. I am so sorry ...."
Jukia, fighting her tears tell Stadvas "I'll be fine. I find a place to crash next to the road. Don't misjudge these people. They are good hearted. They just are a little, inhibited ....."

Stadvas nods, as if submitting to Mallie's will. "I'm not misjudging anything. Not the people, not the risks... and since I don't want to find your bones tomorrow morning, you probably need some kind of guarding." Then, he turns to Mallie with a grin. "I take it you don't want to give a few of the village's men for that job?"
