Zlak thinks for a second then adds "it is a two day walk to Barrow's Edge. It is a striaght road to the east, with no real hamlet or village, unless they are hidden in the forest. Road is safe if it is not for the goblins. I would advise you to acquire here whatever you need and pack up and go. If you leave within the hour, you shall be there by tomorrow's evening."
He waves them goodbye, a more relaxed and confident look on his face.
Please make any purchase you need/want in term or ratio, waterskin and/or firing ammunitions. Price is standard PHB or DMG.
I am in the process of recruiting a replacement player to replace Seraph character. I will NPC him until we meet his demise ;D

Odlin is ready, or hopes he'll be as ready as he can be. He has enough food for a couple of days.. and ruefully he thinks if we aren't up to scratch we'll end up as food for something else!
Once the others are ready to set off, the quartet leave for Barrows Edge.
Wanting a view of the world around him, the wizard opts to walk in the front rank of the party. Sometimes he absently talks to cheese, or engages with the otheres on a matter of philosophy or culture. At other times he just talks.

Likewise, Kyrian is quickly ready to head out, requiring little if anything from the town. 'I'd sooner eat tree bark than trust some of that business they call food....though it should be in season soon, at least from the one type...'
She'll be more toward the middle of the rank and file, eyes alert and open, watching the trail for any signs of unusual activity. One hand strokes a gentle line along Siass's serpentine form, her attention more on the road than the snake.

The group leaves the town full of hope and excitement. The tension between these four strangers is palatable but the day passes without any incident.
Kyrian notices that the dirt road they travel shows signs of regular use. There are few weeds and the fresh grooves shows the frequent passage of wagons.
The group stops at sundown and makes camp in a secure area by the road. The various team members take watches during the night but the night is calm and quiet.
After their morning ritual and eating breakfast, the group restarts its walk. Around noon time, as the group is climbing a hill, they hear the sound of a battle ahead.
OOC: Please subtract 1 ration. OOC2: Good news: Ilya will join us as a fighter soon to replace Seraph.

That morning, the wizard ponders that he feel almost 5% lighter on his feet. Perhaps I could devise a formula for an army to travel swiftly by consuming more of its rations?
The distraction of conflict sets the dwarf on edge. Nervously he shuffles to behind the others, not realising his feet have command of his being. His sweaty palms grip his cudgel tightly. Cheese chitters excitedly in his pouch, his nose twitching the air.
As the others go to investigate he stalls, a couple of steps, then a grim determination. Taking a deep breath he FOLLOWS the others to the melee (or just stands behind them if the others decide to just stand about)
Odlin will be last to go investigate and only goes if everyone goes.

The fighter and Kyrian are the first one at the top of the hill, followed by Augustine and Odlin.
They see a fight raging on, at the bottom of the hill, approximately 60 yards down. A loaded merchant wagon lies on its side, its horses dead of scattered. Kyrian, using her acute spotting skills, notices several elves and goblins lay dead, while 2 elves continue to battle 3 goblins.
One goblin impales one of the remaining elves and the 3 goblins focus on the lone remaining elves.
The fighter makes a comment noticing that the elves do not see to fight like trained fighters at all.

Odlin's eyes widen, the pupils dilate like the growing pools of dark blood seeping from a fallen elf.
Speechless he stands and stares, gripped by the carnage and brutality of the vista.
"M... m... " he stutters. Finally words leave him and he stands with stopped shoulders, trembling within an inner conflict.
if all the others go down, he follows them, clutching his cudgel tightly still.

The fighter, Kyrian, Augustine and Odlin watches the fight from the top of the hill. At first, the lone remaining elf is doing well against the 3 goblins but soon enough, it becomes obvious that the goblins are toying with the elf, playing until they put him to death.
OOC: Because Nodaisho is out until next week and Magus is in one of her ‘creative’ absence and Ilya will join us very soon (he gave me a character sheet), the decision to go help the elf or not is on Oldlin burly shoulders.

Kyrian looks over at the dwarf, her conscience finally deciding to roll over and kick. "Well, are we going to do something or not? I'd prefer not to give funeral rites, but the odds are certainly going to be rough either way."
She draws her shortspear, using it as an impromptu walking stick to lean on, awaiting the others' decision.

The dwarf steps backwards from the elf's words snapping him out of his personal nightmare. It doesn't need to be like that again. It... could... be... different...
As if energised by Kyrian's words, Odlin booms loudly.
Commandingly he whips round to the elven archer. "Please! Quickly! Show me your bow!" Placing his thick fingers over the weapon he says a quick enchantment, making the bow glow briefly. "There, master archer. Let your arrows fly true! The rest of us will move together on the flank so as not to impede Augustine. Hurry."
Turning and gripping his cudgel he leads the others forwards with a vicious warcry [in dwarven] "Rof threah dan droah!"
Inwardly the dwarf considers that the goblin would need to be lucky to take less than a quarter minute to slay the wizard. That might just be enough to save the elf...
cast MAGIC WEAPON on Augustine's bow, take the others.. myself and the fighter with Kyrian behind along the one flank to the side (if possible so that we come alongside the lone elf) so that Augustine has a clear shot at the goblins during our charge, when we are level with the last elf, we'll cut in and attack although Odlin will let the fighter go in first, he will AID ANOTHER to give the fighter +2 to hit and ask Kyrian (from the safety of the second line) to heal anyone that falls or to jump in to the front line if the fighter needs to withdraw.

The goblins, still unaware of the adventurers watching them keep toying with the elf. Oldin invokes the magic he has learned to control and charm Augustine’s bow. Then the burly dwarf moves to the side with Kyrian and the fighter. The goblins seem to get sick of their cat and mouse game and the one in the middle, using a powerful move, decapitate the poor elf. At that moment, the fighter next to Odlin starts puking and starts running away, an awful look of fear in his eyes. Before the group can understand what is happening, they see a funny looking dressed man walking toward them in a hurry as if he was trying to catch up with them. The goblins appreciate their victory and are going to each body and stab it again if it is not a goblin or try to see if they are still alive if they are goblins.
IF you decide to attack, I will need initiative rolls. You have the surprise elements so if Augustine shoot and arrows, it will be in a surprise round. If you decide to move, indicate where you land using the letter and number combination

The new member of the group, Stadvas, runs towards to the group, but notices something seems to be wrong, and worrying the others. Just in case there is a risk of being injured, he reached behind his back, opens his backpack and pulls out his suit of scale mail, and, waving it around in his left hand like a silver banner, he then closes the pack again with his right hand. He has to stop for a few seconds to drop the backpack he has now pulled off with his right hand, slip into the suit, and grab the backpack again. He puts it over his armour, which is slightly too big even for his impressively built body, but filled by the wraps underneath. After these preparations, mostly done while running, he reaches the summit of the hill. At this point, he spots what will become his opponents. The first words he speaks to the others are typical for him. " What are the odds of victory, and what do we risk winning?" invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=11036((I'm open for constructive criticism and pointless insults... Just keep the insults to PM's, please?))

Odlin wants to follow the fighter but the drama unfolding keeps him on the spot. Looking at Kyrian with wide eyes, he turns to regard the newcomer, Stavdas.
"I am Odlin the Terrramancer," states the dwarf at the human who seems to be more friend than foe. Speaking to all, the wizard continues. "These goblins are a woe to the land. Rescuing the elves is impossible now." A guilty expression flickers briefly at the elven druid. "Augustine, shoot once they spot us or wait till we get close enough for a charge within their midst." Quickly appraising the human, the wizard asks, "can you be our vanguard? lead the fight and we'll back you up." and as an afterthought, "We only need one alive..."
init = 17* hp: 7/7 AC: 11 or 12 dodge goblin most likely to attack me - use my sense motive/INT? F+3 R+3 W+4 *however, if necessary will delay until acting on same number as Stadvas acts. once in combat use aid another to give him a +2 to hit, dodge against the goblin most likely to strike at Odlin. Will try and keep with Stadvas but do realise i only move 20 (so might need to run to keep up and use Aid Another next round!)

"My name's Stadvas, without any fancy titles. I'll just see your friendship as the best possible reward, and there is a significant chance I'm going to need it, so yes, I will be your vanguard... This thing is heavy, though..." Stadvas replies, nodding at his scales. Seemingly oblivious to the great flail hanging from his side, he draws a small dagger, which looks a little ridiculous in his hand. "Oh, and, no comments about my outfit. Let's just say this is Kord's doing..." Then he pauses to think, and once again speaks. "You mean we need one goblin alive?"

Kyrian's expression is grim, though remaining slightly aloof. "Death is a part of the cycle of nature. Sometimes it cannot be helped that it must claim its due." One hand tightens around the spear's shaft. "Perhaps the best that can be done is allow the individual's spirit to pass knowing it has been avenged. We will see."
Init: 15 HP: 8/8 AC: 14 Fort: +2, Ref +2, Will +5
Kyrian will follow the others at a slight distance, taking defensive stance. If substantial injuries, she will cast CLW at first opportunity.
