Augustine's hand drifts towards his hip, and with lightning speed, pulls out an apple, and takes a bite. Swallowing, he says "I am Augustine, the Arrow-shooter."
Where did the apple come from? Hammerspace.
I actually had to look up the Lee Van Cleef reference.

As the burly dwarf and the strange elf with a snake around her neck are starring at each other, Augustine introduces himself. Concious not to disturb the starring contest, he decides to satisfy his hunger with an healthy snack.
A human fighter approaches them and asks "Are you going to stay here all day and stare at each other or will you let people get into the inn? I have business to conduct."

Odlin mentally notes the irony of an elf having a stony expression. Elves to his mind were more supple, and sometimes warped, like wood.
Without taking his eye off snake-girl, he acknowledges Augustine. "well met, bowman."
The arrival of the human makes things more complicated. Unsure if his earlier introduction included the newcomer, the wizard decides to adhere to etiquette and repeat his challenge. "I am Odlin, errant Terramancer."
The dwarf's stance and countenance are implacable.

"I am eager to go inside and see about Barrow's Edge, but this dwarf appeared to want something."

The human fighter seems to lose his cool "What is it with elves and dwarves?" He walks between the starring dwarf and starring snaky elf, breaking the starring contest. "Here you go, it is a tie. Can we proceed inside the inn?"

An eyebrow arches slightly as she gives him a smirk and heads inside. 'Dwarves may be idiots but they certainly are entertaining.'

Augustine walks into the tavern, continuing to eat his apple.

The dwarf, the two elves and the human enters the tavern. It is a very busy tavern full of wanna-be adventurers, pretenders and posers. The armors are too shiny, the weapons are too perfect, as if they have never seen the sight of a battle.
In the left corner of the room, a man, wearing a dust covered cape over a beaten-up leather armor dismisses two very young looking wanna-fighter with perfect equipment. He grabs his mug in front of him and barely sip from it. Holding the wooden medallion of Pelor he has around his neck, he closes his eyes and seems to be praying.

Odlin enters the tavern and shudders inwardly a little looking at all the people there. He looks at the man in the corner and sees the Pelorite dismiss two would-be adventurers.
The dwarf has to stagger to get out of the way of patrons coming to and fro and his confidence starts to ebb. Taking a deep breath he counts backwards from 100 thinking of prime numbers.
Focusing in the hazy gloom* of the tavern he spots a familiar face. Hurrying over he almost grabs the other but in time lowers his hand and comes face to face with the bow elf.
"Master Augustine, a quick word if you will. You introduced yourself to me outside and not knowing anyone else... except maybe that big human warrior over there, i was wondering if i could talk to you?"
without pausing for an answer the dwarf moves closer to the taller demi-human and whispers above the murmur of the crowd.
"I think that holy man over there could be the chap who put up that notice for help. He seems to have a shrewd eye, I saw him turn away some novices. Perhaps he will turn us away unless we approach him as a group? If we say we are a band of adventurers, maybe we would have more clout in winning his favour. Your bow, my spells could be a good combination? I thought the two of us could ask that warrior guy who spoke to us outside. Maybe he could band with us. a good strong swordsarm will help. what do you think?"
Odlin looks about to see if there is anyone else he could ask. *forgive me if the tavern isnt hazy!

"Afraid of a snake bite are we?" Her words are clipped, almost friendly yet managing to be sarcastic. "You needn't worry about it; you're on the larger side of things -- she won't eat you. The rodent perhaps, but yourself no."
"Suit yourselves then, I suppose. Seems like everyone I run into just doesn't like me."

Odlin reacts to the re-appearance of the herpetic elf with mild surprise. He ponders her words for a brief moment.
These mysterious elves are naval gazing spoilt eternal teenagers despite their longevity. Bah! Makes me want to chain them to a rock and teach them a day's hard graft. Mind you, I can be stubborn and intractable too thinks the dwarf conceedingly. We could use her, if we could ever rely on her that is. Strength in numbers, no point holding a grudge over a rude self absorbed princess with venomous tendancies.
Keeping his voice low he re-addresses the svelte sylvan. "I am Odlin the Terramancer and this is Augustine the Arrow-shooter and Barendd the axemaster with Theodorre the spellsmith over there blowing his nose... you can either be a bystander or pretend that you care and introduce yourself. I'm not wiping anyone's backside... I spend long enough staring at or smelling them!"

She cracks a smile at his words, eyes flickering with amusement. "Kyrian. Of Serpent's Hollow." The voice is sibilant, snakelike in an almost hiss. "And as for backsides, sir, watch your own. I'm quite comfortable keeping an eye on myself, thank you."
"I would say it's a pleasure, but this is simply a business agreement. You're here for that offer...should we not see what is wanted of us?"

The voice is sibilant, snakelike in an almost hiss. "And as for backsides, sir, watch your own. I'm quite comfortable keeping an eye on myself, thank you." Odlin fights to keep his bile from rising Darn flightly introspective pansies! When the dracoguano hits the sigils, they'll be ...The dwarf stops his train of thought suddenly and his earthy skin tone reddens slightly. Yes, that was real. That did happen." You're a prickly pear. What makes you so sure you'll be a good business partner, eh? Or any of us. If this job is going to be dangerous, what do you think will stop us from tearing each other apart instead of working together?
Think you can get along with someone other than your own reflection?" Odlin puts his hands on his hips, a determined look on his face and watches the elf to see how she responds. Well she finally said her name at least, and where she's from. Bit secretive of her role in the world. Bah! Not like a dwarf... not like a dwarf at all...Something inside the wizard softened, a sense of kinship and of posible common ground. Slowly his hands slip to his sides as he watches the feisty newcomer.

Augustine watches the exchange between the other elf and the dwarf, not stepping in on either side, no skin off his nose either way, really.

"Someone other than my own reflection?" She laughs, one hand straying to the viper coiled possessively around her. "My reflection you say? Oh quite the good one, sir. I've not seen fit to give two whits about something that immaterial...since...well, ever."
"As for who would rip each other apart? Well I don't imagine it might not happen, but I rather doubt I'd be in a hurry for that. Just because you might be a dwarf or whatever doesn't mean anything. Go ahead and throw an insult...see what I do. But mess with her" Kyrian gestures toward the snake, "and I will." The elf steps back, an appraising eye on the two. "I've my own reasons for not being what you consider 'friendly' and 'open' all right? You don't push me where I don't want to be pushed, and we have an accord. You get a healer and someone that knows where they're going, I get a way to keep an eye on things outside the Hollow."
