"Not that it's any business of mine of course," Taliea begins in low tones to Ustaffe, "but I don't suppose you'd happen to know what's in a crate of that size? Also if we were to deliver it to this Mr Brightsprocket do you have any suggestions for how we might get it there?"
Ustaffe looks shocked that he would even consider looking inside one of the crates in his charge.

Kerzeme tries to subtly stay away from the paper. The less he signs, the less chance they'll trick him. He does begin to dig into his pouch. He also has a question. "People come here and store all kinds of stuff, do they not? I suppose you might know a thing ot two about your clients. So, who do you think can point us in the right direction of where magical beasts would come from? Does anyone store weird-looking magical items?"
Ustaffe looks a little distracted. Maybe he is about to catch the 'flu. However he doesn't know the answer to magical beast question. Various good come through the warehouse and there could be magical items among them

Alyana takes the piece of paper and gives it to Theo. "You are the one who likes to read your spell book. Review this and sign please."
She then looks at the little man "How far is our destination? Is there a map or a raod to get there? Who delivered you that crate? Where can we get a cart to put the crate on? Where can we get animals who can pull the crate and survive the elements. Work with us or you might be stuck have to put this in storage."

Ustaffe is a little confused by the exchanges. He is a simple storeman although observers notice that he is more on edge then usual. Maybe he is troubled by ther ecent attacks and is not sleeping soundly, but he does have a tinge of discolouration around his cheeks as if he is becoming poorly. Occasionally the little man coughs and clutches his chest.
The crate has been sent here by Palorius the merchant. It has been here for some time as the merchant has been having trouble finding deliverymen, hence the reson for the merchant approaching Kurt and begging the adventurers to help deliver the crate.
The gnome Brightsprocket lives in a tower to the north-east. He is a secluded tinkerer. Sometimes the townsfolk will trade engineering supplies from him or ask his expertise in fixing one of the machines that occasionally fail in the harsh Telterik environment.
The sooner Ustaffe is rid of the crate the better in his opinion.
Ustaffe gladly draw a map for the adventurers. The journey is a couple of days."Head along the glacier north of Icendia, (Ustaffe points at his makeshift map)... here... then cut north at the azure icefields. If you look for the plumes from the steam geysers just below the shadow of Mount Pick then you can't miss it. You'll recognise Mount Pick by it's distinctive outline (Ustaffe sketches the mountain). Brightsprocket lives in a steel tower that belches steam and fire next to the geyser pools."
Once the paperwork is signed, he hands over the crate beckoning everyone to leave as soon as possible.

The adventurers can hire a team of winter dogs and a sled to help carry the crate. Better still, the cost can be billed to Palorius ;D

Alyana thanks Ustaffe and addresses the group "I propose we hire a sled and snow dog to go deliver the crate. After that we can go back and continue our lizard hunt. The trail was going north anyway so we can kill two birds in one stone. ALso, is everyone confortable NOT knowing what we are escorting?"
"Anyone interested in taking a look?"

Kerzeme crackles his knuckles theatrically, wiggles his fingers and motions for the others to move aside so nobody is harmed when he blows the crate to smithereens to see what's in it.

Alyana shakes her finger at KErzeme "I said LOOK INSIDE, not destroy the container! Anyone know how to open a crate and close it?"

"And how, in the nine hells, exactly, do you want to look inside without opening the bo- oh. Close it. Uhhh... good idea. Really good idea. We could... uhhh... cut off a corner to look through and say it got damaged?"

"Is the box made of nailed plank? Then we could open it and renail it. But I feel a little umconfortable delivering something without knowing in advance it will not help evil."

"Oh, that's why..." Kerzeme is once again surprised. "I thought you wanted to... I don't know, just wanted to know?" In the meantime, his bat familiar flies circles around him, squeaking energetically.
With 8 intelligence and 9 wisdom, I refuse to ever have Kerzeme come up with a good idea. Limji has 14 Wisdom and would like to try using it echo location. Anyone who's smarter than Kerzeme's bat can try to use a weapon as a crowbar?

Taliea offers to prise open the crate a little with her greatsword. If it's possible she'll lever a plank enough to look inside and then hammer it back down with the pommel of the sword.

OOC: Ilya you play KErzeme great.
Alyana supports Taliea decision and will help her open the crate to get a sense of what is in it.

With a little ingenuity and some dirty looks from Ustaffe, the adventurers manage to prise open the lid of the wooden crate
Inside the crate, the heroes find lots of straw protecting several large glass jar containing a luminous yellow liquid. Dark ichor streams through the jars, almost as if alive but that would surely be impossible. A slight heat comes from the contents. The lids of the jars are bound tightly with oilskin and sealed with wax

Kerzeme comes closer, peering at the jars, and shows every intention of opening one and possibly tasting the contents. Limij's fluttering around his face and squeaks signifying that that would be a bad idea are, once again, ignored and the little flying mammal after a while gives up.
Thank you. Doing 'stupid' isn't as easy as I expected it to be. Roll to see what we have here: Knowledge (arcana): 1d20+1=16+1=17
