Like Theo, Taliea is just waiting to see what happens next. She hasn't "given up" on her friends per-se, but she's let them do what they wanted, she's ready for whatever is next in store.

Theo turns to Taliea, "Well, that was a lost cause, but at least we got paid!" he says with a large grin. Then suddenly looks around at the surviving refuges, hoping they didn't hear him or think ill of him for his ramblings. Turning back to the ranger, sorceror and dwarf. "Seems senseless to me to just give your life away knowing the outcome will still be dire. Especially when you could live and fight for more causes, or more treasure." He whispers the last, he then gives a last look to where Kurt and Alyana leaped from and shrugs, "So, where are we off to now? Some place cooler I hope. The heat from the lava is dreadful." Again he looks around at the faces on the refuges.
we are in a volcano, correct?

Epilogue; A new homeWHEN; 30mins after the 21st hour, 27th day of Avriltine, 3806EYM WHERE; DS Prince Faldlin, escaping from the doomed city of MagnarakThe launch cradle finally reaches full potency and with a noiseless flash propels the airship quickly and safely out of the volcano. The acceleration is bone jarring and some of the timbers creak but without the magical assistance the over-encumbered zeppelin with its priceless cargo of refugees would never have left the city. All around, lost and broken citizens quickly reflect or whimper softly on the devastating events. Exiting the volcano, the airship gently decelerates to a slower speed as it picks up the air currents and moves in to formation with the rest of the fleeing armada. People throng the sides trying to look back at the volcano that was once not only their home but also a proud civilisation. The captain and some crew usher the dwarves from the edge before the ship tilts too far. A senior rating with streaks of tears running in to his beard addresses the captain. " Sir. The Hammer of Moradin and the Prince Haldlin di... didn't make it. They were seen to take hits from enemy artillery." " What of the Lady Valedu? She was taking on the last of the refugees along with us?" " I... I don't know. She was right beside us but she's not here. I don't know what happened." The Captain looks poignantly out across the flotilla. " Well thank Moradin we are alive and we saved those that we could."
THE END
