Theodore watches Alyanna expertly heal Kurt's nasty wound. He then cocks his head a bit, as if distracted, then takes a sharp and sudden inhale, turning his head to the west, to the woods, Oh my gosh, another passerine feathered creature, he thinks to himself. Theodorre tries to contain his excitement, and not be noticed, at hearing the beautiful musical bird. The nature lover listens to the chirping and whistling with a smile, as he awaits what the others want to do.

Alyana thinks for a few second about what she had heard about Oakgrove. "These are awas a bandit nest before the earthquake. I bet this is a trap that the bandits set up. We must be close to the entrance of their lair. LEt's see if we can find a way to these caves or a good trail or even better, if we can get a sense of where the people who cut the trees took the trunks. Anyone here is has a ranger training?"

"I guess you could say I've had some training in that area," the muscular half-elf says. "I'm not sure how much evidence of their passing would still be present, but I can do my best. If we don't find anything we can always try climbing down to the canyon floor, as you say we may be able to find an entrance to the cave." A shiver of excitement courses through the ranger, although she tries not to show it. It felt good to be on the trail of a mystery.
Search (for tracks/a trail) 10+5=15 (taking 10) Survival (just incase you want that too) 10+5=15 (taking 10)
Hope no-one minds me changing my speach colour to brown, just that black doesn't stand out on the new skin.

A man more of actions than words, Kurt takes his glaive and sets off for the cave entrance. Once he gets close he squats as he searches for signs of a trap before wandering in to the underground complex. After a few short steps he waits for his buddies to join him.

Darkvision, Glaive ready, wander in 20feet then listen+4

I'm sorry achinca, I just get frustrated sometimes when I make a post in OOC and people still post about a cave, that tells me they havent read the post. People go down the cliff. The earthquake demolished the two buildings the bandits used here. Most of the debris is actually down in the canyon, remember in bigger pieces, I think our ranger saw those. Down in the canyon there are many shadows, cause the sun only has a little room to shine down in there. The way crevices are and such, not to mention optical illusions ok I did mention it, some of the shadows look like cave entrances. Guess what they AREN'T, BUT A FEW ARE. in other words take your butts into the canyon. Yep, gonna do some climbing. Hmmmmm, imagine that , get your new shiny rope of climbing out. And no the birds aren't really a clue, BUT, guess what when everyone jumped on Theo for pointing out the flock of birds to Alyanna , those are actually buzzards vultures, whatever, they are scavengers. They are just a long distance off, so you can only see small specs flying around. Guess what that is the way to go Hmmmm, something is dead there, hey lets go check it out. I hate to have to gfive everything away, I wanted it all to come together later, but I guess I have to give everything away now. Anything else I need to tell you? ? OK, I'll put my soapbox up then

Oh yeah the half orc fell on a orc made spike in a pit trap with a message written in orcish, people theres WAS gonna be orcs, I dont know now, that I have to tell everything. The earthquake was three years earlier, orcs could have moved in anytime and made that trap. I guess my ranting is finished, NOW i'll put my box up

Puff, relax.
I repeat relax.
This is supposed to be fun.
One rule I learn about being a DM is that players never do what you expect them to do. They will miss obvious clues, they will go on wild goose chase or take the game in a tangent which has nothing to do with the original scenario.
You have two answers: a) try to get the players into your original story. It will be hard and frustrating and not necesseraly successful. OR you can follow where the players are going and adjust on the fly. I learned to do the second and not get upset when players missed obvious clues and left tresure or XP. It is part of the game.
You gave us hint about the orcs. We ignored it. So be it. Don;t be upset. We dreamed of a cave. You can say there is no cave or repeat that one is at the bottom of the canyon. and repeat and may be one of us will get it. OR have is find a cave entrance near the pit to bring us back into the sotry.
The idea is for you to be flexible and not get frustrated. We are doing this for fun and fun only.
Anyone else who has DM want to shed light on this subject of dense players?

Alyana look down at the ravine. "I guess it is the only way down. Does anyone has a good rope? We need to secure and decide of the order. I will go down last."
Climb: Take 10 + 0 = 10

((At least we've not slaughtered each other yet. That'd be worse.
In unrelated news, I'm slightly surprised you're familiar with Genjutsu.))
Since Kerzeme will be climbing himself now, he suddenly realizes that the magical rope he got with so much trouble will make the both descent easier and safer. He gets it out of his backpack, and announces, "I've got a Rope of..." The exact name escapes him. "Well, it's magical, and it'll do the trick." The Maitre hands his rope to whoever wants to climb first.

OOC: OK, i need to know if its gona be knotted or not, and the tress are 5' away from the edge of the cliff, is that where your gonna attach it?
There is a 40' clearing , which trees are u gonna attach it to? The trees qwe just emerged from or the trees on the other side of the clearing from where we emerged (40' away)

((I haven't decided yet, but I will tell you as soon as I have. In the meantime, let's see what the others think. If it's knotted, we've got 15-25 feet of falling ropeless distance, if it isn't, we've got 5-15 feet. But getting down will be harder.))

"A magical rope, eh? What exactly does it... do?" Taliea says, sounding mystified if not a little puzzled. She resists the urge to take it from Kerzeme and examine it (not that she'd be able to tell much just by looking at it). "I'd say let's tie one end to these trees here," she points at a tree close to the edge of the canyon, "then we can get a closer look. I don't mind going first."
Taliea has +6 Climb and +8 Use Rope
By the way, I second Achinca; players don't always to do what you expect (or want) them to do, but it's best to correct them if necessary, if not then just go with it and either adjust the story accordingly or let them figure it out for themselves. No need to get upset

"I have 50 feet worth of silk rope, if anyone needs it" says Alyana.
OOC: Genjutsu? My kids watch Naruto.
