Odlin decides to identify the source of magic and casts a spell to do so. He is overwhelmed by the result. There is magic everywhere and he cannot identify any specific school or location. A lot of magic is present in the room. Odlin searches around the room using his knowledge of arcane and notices that the engraving on the various tiles matches the various pictures on the door. Stadvas stays on alert but nothing comes out of the room to attack them. Augustine squint his eyes to see if he can spot anything special but cannot spot anything. Ryxikor, in a very prudent manner search around the room and notices that the tile with the men shaking hands drawing, the rigid man drawing, the running man drawing and the levitating man drawing seem as though they can be picked up and moved. The others are engraved into the floor. Odlin digs deeper into his knowledge of the arcane arts and suddenly a light bulb goes on in his confused mind. The verses on the door match the tiles. He figures that “Magic Dies” is a “dispel magic” spell. He looks around the drawing and deduct it is most likely the eyes.

"Do you think we have to move all the tiles or just one?" Odlin ponders the riddle carefully. "If I were to read the rhyme, i wonder that the different combinations will leasd to ruin and doom. However, 'eye of death, eye of stone, the key to passage they haven't shown' seems to be the less hazardous stanza.
I wonder if we took the tile with the rigid man, perhaps he is petrified, to the tile with the eye picture on it, then the passage will be revealed to us?"
The dwarf looks to his comrades for feedback before initiating any actions
tile 'r' to tile 'e'?

Ryxikor kneels down by the tiles, and using his dagger begins to scrape some of the dirt and rubble away from the edges of the tiles. If it seems the tile can be moved, with the help of the others, he tries to remove the levitating man tile.
Hmm, the rigid man isn't with the levitaing and running man pics, rigid man is in different room. Oh and Cal, I'm sorry, but I think I'm gonna need to see some pics of the cute girls you played with at gencon.

Odlin stops Ryx from moving any tiles until the whole group has decided on a suitable course of action.
there were only 2 cute girls at GenCon UK (in my humble opinion) - the place was teaming with morbidly obese bearded geeks descended from ugly neanderthals. and the men weren't much better either [kidding] one of the cute girls was N*** (an official 4th ed playtester from Netherlands) and the other was M***-**** who was attending with her RPG group (herself, a young kid not related to her, an older man and a younger man who wasnt married to her but they seemed to be having an affair anyway or so it appeared) however the nearby canal area was jumping with all sorts of sultry flesh - both young and old if one was brave enough to venture forth. however i came to play RPGs not play the fillies If there's cuteness at GenCon USA then i might have to get a ticket. i'm not sure but i think i was the only delegate at GCuk who had a bath, wore deodorant and a stylish shirt every day. what are my chances? [addendum] no wait, you're being funny! it's so true. female RPGers dont tend to be cute do they?

OOC: The e tile cannot be moved. It is a dispel magic tile and you need to enter it to put anything on it. the e tile cannot be moved.
OOC2: Will wait until tonight for NO and Ilya post before relpying.
OOC3: I am still looking for an attractive female gamers and yes, olders gamers are often the cliches you described. They give geeks like me a bad name.

Augustine starts to walk around the central room, looking around and thinking. "Now, how are we going to solve this?" he asks.
This puzzle seems like it might be difficult, or I might just not be thinking hard enough.

Odlin looks at his comrades and if no-one objects he volunteers to face the wrath of the room's magic. At the back of his mind he thinks of Jukia and his family, hoping no-one else will be hurt
Once his team agree, he picks up the tile 'r' of the rigid man and places it on the tile 'e' with the eye symbol

Stadvas speaks up. "The last verse says something about aiding... We could try that if this doesn't show us where to go. " When he sees that Odlin wants to put one tile on the other, he follows and helps him carry it if necessary.

The group is puzzled by the situation at hand. There is not other way out but solving the riddle. Odlin picks up the tile with the Running Man and put it on the tile with the Eye. He feels his mage armor spell disappear. Everything else is the same.
OOC: Let me gve you a hint as puzzles are hard in Pbp. Check the map of the room with the picture of the beholder (your characters copied before entering the room)

The vulnerability brought on by the dispelling of his arcane armour makes Odlin troubled.
He's made a mistake but thankfully not a fatal one.
"Perhaps the riddle is the order we have to activate the tiles? But only some can be moved. maybe we need to stand on the tiles?"
The wzard peers at the sketch again. "did anyone else notice this? all the runes point away from the beholder except this one [Odlin points] and it seems to twist and snake below the others. maybe that is our key?"

After a long, pensive look at the drawing, Stadvas double-checks the placement of the engravings. Then, pointing, he begins to explain the sudden realisation that has dawned upon him. "Did anyone notice that all but the moveable ones are in the same alignment as the ones on the drawing, with the eye matching this thing's eye? We would align them correctly if we would put the rigid man in the place of the men shaking hands, the running man in the place of the rigid man, the levitating man in the place of the running man and the men shaking hands in the place of the levitating man. We could have to put them in place following the order hidden in the riddle. And just in case, we'd better prop the door with something. I'll be right back." The warrior leaves the room and searches the rubble in the previous room for a large enough piece of stone, which he can put in the door opening to keep it open wide enough for them to squeeze through. He is willing to spend some time while the others think about his proposal.
Search check: Can I do a take 20?

Ilya and Odlin tries to figure out the riddle as Augustine and Ryxikor seem overwhelmed by the puzzle. Odlin is about to walk on a tile when the warrior comes up with a better idea. He properly identifies the relationship between the pictures and the tiles and propose that they move the tile to match the picture on the door.
After securing the door with a hard object, he moves the tiles in the order matching the drawing of the beholder on the door. Initially nothing happens then suddenly a ray appears from the ceiling, striking and destroying the tile with the drawing of a Disappearing Man Struck by Ray.
Beneath the floor, a ladder leads down into the darkness.
OOC: Great Job Ilya. I am so proud that you got it on your own. I was starting to grow desperate. XP have been posted. Ryxikor is now level 3 - Puff provide me with your level up details.

Unnerved by even a trap that seems to have been avoided, Augustine jokes "Good thing you didn't decide to stand on that one, huh?" He walks over to the ladder, attempting to see anything at the bottom, asking Odlin "See anything?" when the dwarf comes over.

with euphoria, Odlin clasps the implaccable Stadvas with a bear hug "superb! outstandingly marvellous! well done"
The dwarf reminesces that his older brother always was good at riddles and puzzles, as well as the throwing axe. "You're smart as you are tall! you'll be a worthy chieftain one day!"

Odlin hugs Stadvas as the warrior was the unlikely hero of the beholder room. Augustine looks down the ladder by sees nothing. Odlin, with his darkvision fares better. The ladder leads to a wide landing, maybe 10 by 10 feet wide. It looks like nearby, a narrow and shallow staircase descends to another narrower landing. It looks like the stairs might continue beyond that.
