I can do a non-adventure entry in the Inn at Kingholm if the group want. I promise that Miriam will not try to get her way with Stadvas. She will just give him the look and dream.

As promised, the Sinister Spire has started. Let's get the inventory all set up before we go too far in the adventure. Mirima is waiting for Odlin to tell her how much gold she got.

I'm sorry I missed monday and tuesday. We went camping and I realized I had forgot to post that I was going to be absent right around the point that we got on the interstate.

I don't think I will be buying anything from the merchant, but I need to make sure. I'll have a certain post ASAP, probably tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you are).
edit: Nope, won't be buying anything from him. I actually hadn't finished doing the math for stuff to buy from Kingsholm, so I wasn't sure what I could afford.
In the PHB, it refers to masterwork tools, tools that will give you +2 on any check with a certain skill. I think I want to buy a couple of those for hide and move silently, either retroactively from Kingsholm, while we are still fixing up the loot split, or at the next merchant we get to that sells 50gp items. I'm thinking that for hide, it would be camouflage paint on the breastplate, with matching clothes underneath, and for move silently, it would be some very soft-soled shoes. Does that sound good to you?

I dont see those items, are they just made up? Interesting, camo will help you in the forest. The underdark is cavernous rocky terrain, soft soled shoes doesnt seem to make sense.

Puff, the first depends on the colours you use. For cavernous terrain, you'd be using more grays, blacks and maybe some blues, kind of like city camouflage. Forest would be mostly green and brown, while you'd use a lot of red when you're in a mostly lava-filled cavern. I imagine that Noda would be buying an entire kit with all kinds of colours. And I don't see why soft-soled shoes don't make sense. If you worry about them being uncomfortable, you could take shoes with a normal sole for protection with a second, soft sole under it for the sneaking. Seems perfectly doable.

If these are made up item, we will need to agree on how many paint job can be done with one kit and how long each paint job last.
For the sole, we would need to agree how long the efficiency last. They would go from +2 to + 1 to 0.

The items in question are here: www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsandservices.htm, find tool, masterwork. It doesn't specify what each item would be, sadly, but it isn't like I'm making up the idea of a masterwork item to improve the skill check. Puff, camo is not solely for forest, that is why you see people with desert pattern camouflage (look at either gulf war, although for a while they were using some woodland gear as well, since that was what they had at the time). Camouflage for underground would likely be dark browns and greys, maybe little flecks of black, but not much, since pure black isn't a commonly occuring color. off-black colors like slate are more common, but pure black is seen in obsidian and little else. Soft soled shoes don't make sense? I take it you haven't ever tried to walk quietly in combat boots, compared to just about anything else? That is partially the weight, and partially how hard the soles are, opposed to sneaker soles. I guess we could agree on how long the soles would last, but it seems kind of odd, you don't see people having to replace their boots of striding and springing or slippers of spider climbing because the sole has gotten a hole worn in it. Especially considering how any sole I have seen will last at least a year, even the cheap crappy $15 shoes last more than that long. I don't think we have seen anywhere near a year of in-game time yet, so wear would either be accelerated or we would have to be counting down months until something changes, which seems to me to be quite a bit of effort for very little point. If wear and tear would count on the soles, could they be removable, tie them on over the normal shoes and use them, untie them and slip them in a bag, and you aren't wearing on them? The paint for the breastplate I agree would probably need limited applications, a tabard over the breastplate instead of paint would get rid of that need, replace it with possible need for sewing once in a while, but I'll stick with the paint, it seems more in Augustine's character.

Regarding the sole, my opinion was that usage will make them lose then noise softening abilities. Magical items do not suffer in DnD which is why the boots of spider climb never loose their abilities. However, to keep it simple, let's assume that they keep their noise reducing abilities for one year dnd time which is is like 100 year real time. Regarding the paint, I say that you get 5 paint job per kit and once pain on the armor, it keeps it efficacity for 6 month dnd time. However, if you have underdark paint and you go i nthe desert, you lose the +2. You also lose the +2 in urban situation.
