Since obviously the path of "get in the way; ready action to get out of the way at the last moment" I proposed earlier is entirely out of the question.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I could cover all of them with a Burning Hands without being hit and losing my spell again?

Ilya, I have bad news and good news. Bad News: My char has just stepped in front of yours, blocking him. More Bad News: I'm not going to tell you how to play your character Good News: I would like to take a shot at taking direction from you. Where others have not responded, give me a chance. I am first on the Init ladder and will delay if need be so you can get the spell off. Or ready my action and tumble away just before, or whatever you need.
P.S. I don't understand why your plan is out of the question. Is it not logistically possible or is it not possible because players don't seem to be cooperating with you? (My need to understand overrides my desire to avoid reading another rant, so, please, be gentle with me...)

I throw my hat in the ring here.
I sincerely hoped I fully understood everyone action and portrayed them properly in my posts.
If I didn't feel free to let me know but as codeslinger said, be gentle with me.

Ah, well, Dragen took the "plug " spot (and the enemy's wrath as well, heh). If I ever get the front spot, refer to my previous post in this thread.

Again, sorry about ranting. I shouldn't have.
Right now, I just don't know what to do.

Well, as far as I know the choice are to try to plug and take the cultists on a one on one basis or let's them in.
There are 6 of us in the room so allowing a few is ok. But allowing them all would be tricky. Plus we have to worry about the arcanist.
so far, it looks like the cultists are trying to open the plug.

I have a new plan. It involves pretty much everyone getting a swing in, but it also requires some initiative shenanigans. Delaying, mostly. I'd like to have everyone's OK before it is put into play. Alternatives are welcome.
This round goes like this: 1. Valandir's action: delay until after Dra'gen. 2. Ryx's and Sirali's actions: you know, I have no idea. 3. My action: delay until after Valandir. 4. Dra'gen's action: delay until after Padre, as well. 5. Padre's action: take a swing at Se1. He has cover from the attack, but the attack also has a +1 elevation bonus. 5-ft step to H29. Alternatively, heal Dra'gen. 6. Dra'gen's action: take his attacks. 5-ft step to H30. 7. Valandir's action: 5-ft step to H31. Attacks. This way, you'll get to hack at something, but sadly there will be no skirmish. 8. My action: 5-ft step to I31; cast another Enlarged Substituted Burning Hands in their direction.
The initiative order now looks like this: Ryx. Sirali. Padre Dra'gen Valandir Me.
The enemy acts, Valandir functions as the plug. You can take that risk, right?
Next round. 1. Ryx and Sirali: still beats me, to be honest. 2. Padre: delay until after me. 3. Dra'gen: take a couple of swings, your attack will be from cover, but you're covered, too. Then get out of the fray for some much-needed healing. 4. Valandir: take your attacks, 5-ft step to I30. 5. My spell triggers. 5d4 lightning damage on anyone within 30 ft. down that staircase. That should hurt 'em. 6. I get out of the way, may burn another spell on Magic Missile, maybe not. 7. Padre's action: Move action to plug the H31 position. Take a single attack. I've put Padre here because he seems to be able to take a bit more damage at this point than Dra'gen.
Any comments, disagreements, formal protests, lawsuits, or other things to add to that?

I really, really like the plan but what about the flaming sphere? It won't go away this round.
Just take the damage and man it up?

The plan sounds solid, but I was wondering the same as ach about the sphere..
Does the sphere affect them as well or just us? If it affects them as well, maybe we can use that to our advantage

I was wondering yesterday if we could let one cultist in then block them off and plug the 'hole'. I'm sure Ryx being a smartass could entice the first one that sees him to come attack, then Dragen and Valandir cold move in to plug the whole. I didnt mentio this and went to check out the roof instead. Ryx can easily move back into the room to do this.

I. Uh.
Dammit. I missed the sphere of fire. And Talon, I know. That's why my plan involved getting him out of harm's way.

Yes. I've thought about using it against them to hold them there. But the caster can use a Move action to move it out of their way.
