Scourge of the Howling Horde is a stand-alone adventure designed for a group of 1st-level characters., Goblins set upon the quiet town of Barrow’s Edge, and the community cries out for heroes to save them. What has turned the secretive and reclusive goblins into bloodthirsty raiders? Who is the mysterious new leader of the tribe? The truth lies deep within the Howling Caves.... This is a WOTC module so if you have played it, please don't join the game ... *The game will start at level 1 with a 25 points buying system (see page 169 DMG for buying cost). * The Hit point generation method will be maximum HP for level 1 then average alternate after that (e.g. for 1D8 character, it would be 4 at level 2 and 5 at level 3 (plus all modifiers of course) * The only classes and races allowed are the classes included in the PHB I and no prestige classes allowed at this point. Monster characters are NOT allowed and only non-evil alignments are allowed (good alignment preferred). * The only books allowed are the 3 3.5 core books (a.k.a. PHB, DMG & MM). * The starting gold will be average gold from PHB page 111 and no magic items available at the beginning Priority will be given to new players. I expect daily posting M-F. Any absence needs to be communicated to the DM. Not posting for two weeks without letting the DM is likely to ensure an unfortunate demise for your character. Post here or email me if you have any questions. Character sheet and basic background will be required prior to enter the game.

ooh, i dunno. if its a published adventure, perhaps the players should decide if there are any specific roles that need covered.
e.g. brute archer healer pyro sneak
or we can not bother and have a random assortment, just like Dolly Mixtures!
i'm cool playing almost anything

Well, it is a published adventure but it will go through my sick mind ... it is a short one that could get the character to level 2 and then more adventures would follow ... hopefully, this introductory adventure would help create the group and the dynamics .....

Well, if you are willing to let me play, I was thinking of an elven archery-focused ranger (creative, huh?), could serve as backup for the sneaky guy, or even be the sneaky guy if needed.

An elven ranger, a dwarf wizard and a human fighter. So far I like the diversity .....

Is there any background that I should know for the campaign? Landmarks, recent history, anything like that?

I will post a quick world description to help you with your background building once we are confirmed. I hope we get our 4th player soon.

wizard dwarf who like gold and ale and trying to find the nuptial cask... rumoured to be able to turn water in to ale.

I like that. I don't need complex background because often the character develop in a different way. So a basic background with a basic motivation. The group is likely to be recruited as mercenary or do-gooders in a local tavern or market place.
A basic paragraph indicating the family structure, the economic class, the overall childhood and adolecense experience and the reason for wanting to become an adventurer.
As the game progress, we will have side discussion to add to the background if needed.
