In a lowered voice, Stadvas replies, bending down to his dwarven friend, "Do you know cannon fodder? We can use it against a dragon... even if the dragon understands they're just appetizers, don't you think? We are likely to be a main course already, but we can try to spoil his appetite.", continuing the dwarf's metaphor. "Oh, and they know that we are here, but only that one", Stadvas shakes his head at the captured goblin, "knows who we are. That's why we can't let him go... We need to keep at least some cards up our sleeve."

Odlin agrees but wonders if walking about with a goblin prisoner might be too troublesome for its own good. "Besides one of us will have to babysit. It all comes down to chances i guess. I still think our little guy here has a better chance of speaking to Urrtarr without drawing attention to us then if we wander in there ourselves.
We could ask Urrtarr to meet us tomorrow somewhere outside the lair to talk . If it's a trap then we know we can't trust anyone and maybe thin down the opposition a little but otherwise we could open a back door in the dragon's empire? "

"All, right. Let's set up a meeting, but we need to be careful, keep watches tonight at the village, I still don't trust them to not try to trick us. And we need to be ready for the dragon, too."

OOC: Waiting for Puff to post. You do not need to go back to the village. The wand has charge left if you are worried about your HP. Plus you will be giving time for Darax to find out that you dispatched his two elite guards. You have information on how to apporach and negociate with Urrtarr if you want to. She is in love with Darax so the more time you give her, the more he can convince her to listen to him.
But it is your call. Just let me know what you have decided to do.

Finally, Ryx spurs the goblin prisoner onward towards their lair. As they walk he tells the goblinoid to speak with Urrtarr on our behalf, that we may have a way to help her.
OOC: ok , I don't know the whole situation here, meaning are the goblinoids attacking the village? Since I don't know, I don't feel confident enough to post much more. Maybe Cal, Il, or Noda should post more on what to have our prisoner tell Urrtarr. Or our gracious DM can act as though the others have informed Ryx and he has translated the necessary info.
Also, I guess when they get near the lair, they will let goblin boy go and hide in a suitable place for the return of him and Urrtarr.
I'm assuming this is the plan or something like it, correct???

"We need to meet Urrtarr somewhere we're safe, on neutral ground, and we can hide a few of us." The warrior thoughtfully walks on. "Ryx, tell that goblin that if he tells anyone with how many we are, we'll find him and kill him."
Achinca, happy birthday.
Puff, it's not really a boy... it's more of a terrified uh... excuse for a warrior. The goblins did attack the village, apparently forced to do so by the dragon....

The group explains to the goblin what he is supposed to tell Urrtarr and what the consequences will be if he does not do it. Ryxikor and Stadvas emphasize each point by kicking the goblins or pointing to the dead elite fighter or the rotting body of Bronk.
The goblin is really scared but swear on Maglubyet that he will give the message to Urrtarr.
The group set up the rendez-vous point at the entrance to the Howling Caves which would force Urrtarr to go by the dead body of the monstruous spider.
The group hides around the entrance for a while and the goblin appears. He is followed by a female hobgoblin wearing a robe and holding a staff. A spell component pouch is visible and a nice brooch with a jewel holds the robe together.
In a very good common she says out loud, thinking the hearoes are around "You have spilled the blood of goblins. For that you should die. But you seem willing to help my tribe with my problems. Let's see if we can find a solution."
She looks around for signs of the heroes but does not make any hostile move or motions.

Stadvas looks around, but stays hidden, fully understanding his towering appearance is probably not what would put the hobgoblin at ease. He looks at his companions, and waits for them to decide whether each of them wants to talk or not. In the meantime, he studies their new potential ally.

Augustine quells his thoughts on the value of goblin life and pokes his head out from behind a nearby tree, saying, "We are supposed to stop the goblin attacks on the villagers. If the attacks stop, no more goblins need die. If the dragon will not let the attacks stop, help us kill him. He doesn't value the lives of your goblins, we found your shaman dead of acid burns a couple of days ago. I don't think I need to tell you what black dragons breathe, do I?"

Ryx follows suit and slowly meanders out into the open. He stands a pace behind Augustine to the side a bit. With his arms at his side, Ryx conceals one of his throwing knives in his right hand, just in case.

Odlin is more brave. He strides out purposefully to within 15 feet of the goblinoids as a show of strength.
"Hail. I am Odlin the Terramancer in the employ of the human settlement of Barrows Edge.
We come under a sign of peace."
The dwarf bows before the two goblinoids. He beckons Ryx to approach and allows Augustine and Stadvas to observe. Odlin plants both his feet firmy on the ground and rests his hands on his hips. His chin is tilted upward slightly as he speaks.
"The humans of Barrows Edge would like a way to return to a peaceful situation with the goblin tribe. We have been asked to quell the violent attacks. I'm sorry for slaying your kin. Our duty is to stop the conflict. However our expedition has discovered that t he cause of your political change is the overlordship of a black dragon that holds your tribe in thrall.
Is there a way we can work together to restore the balance? Otherwise there will be more bloodshed on both sides."

Urrtarr listens to Odlin while observing Ryxikor. “I have to give it to you. You do not seem like much but you surely know how to bleed goblin blood. I have nothing against the inhabitants of Barrow’s Edge. Things were fine the way they were before Noak took over our tribe. He has been forcing us to provide him with goods as he is building a hoard. If we do not deliver it, he start killing. Rutven, our shaman, openly opposed Noak because he felt he was distracting the tribe for worshipping Maglubyet. He has disappeared and now I know what has happened to him. I have no love lost for the dragon and I would love nothing more that having him gone from our lives. Unfortunately, my beloved, Darax, has fallen under the charm of the dragon. He has agreed to all the dragon requests and has even forgotten his male duties to me.” She sighs in regrets. “Nerveless, I love Darax with all my heart and I will not stand if anything would happen to him. So here is my proposal: I will promise you safe passage to the entrance of Darax cave which leads directly to Noak’s Lair. You will eliminate the dragon without hurting Darax or I will join him in the fight. You will not take any equipment from our lair and return anything you have taken from fallen goblins. You will however be able to take anything from Noak's Lair. As a sign of my good will, if one of you has wizardry abilities, I will allow him to copy one spell from my spell book.” She stops and looks at Odlin for an answer.
OOC: Augustine will get the wand as he is the only one that can use it. Brettnor will return to where he should have never left.

Odlin listens patiently, resisting the innate urge to attack the goblin where it stands. His years of study and lore help him understand the wider scheme of things. The dragon needs to be defeated and harmony returned to the area.
"Your offer is generous. Let us talk amongst ourselves and give you a response. Will you meet us back here in an hour?"

Urrtarr nods at Odlin "Fair enough. I will return in an hour."
She turns away and walk back into the goblin lair.

Odlin signal for Ryx or Augustine to check that they have been left alone then beckons the others to come out from hiding when the coast is clear.
The wizard pulls the group in to cover and talks over the recent negotiations.
"Well? sounds like an offer. is there any modifications we should push for. maybe we can argue to keep whatever loot we have so far. mainly because we were already attacked on the way to Barrows Edge by the tribe and destroying Noak the dragon is really helping them out too."
